Art Works for Wahsington
By Annie Penta (Shoreline, WA): Residency presents an in situ training opportunity for teachers. Its highly participatory nature encourages active involvement in the process by both teachers and their students. Penta will teach each concept to students while the teacher observes. Each class will learn the five concepts in the Curriculum of Rhythm Exercises for Elementary Music Classes Derived From the Tabla Hand Drum and Spoken Rhythmic Traditions of India, a curriculum developed since 1997 and funded by the King County Arts Commission.
