GaramChai.com >> Sitemap >> Vaastu >> This Article

Vaastu Shastra (Vaastu- physical environment and Shastra- knowledge/ text/ principles) is one of the traditional Hindu canons of town planning and architecture. These canons are codified in texts such as Manasara Silpa Shastra (by Manasara), Mayamatam (by Maya), Viswakarma Vaastushastra (by Viswakarma), Samarangana Sutradara (by Raja Bhoja), Aparajita Praccha (by Viswakarma's son Aparajita) and Silparatna. Other treatises such as Agni Purana and works by Kautilya and Sukracharya are not popular even though they preceded the previously mentioned documents. Distinction of style exists due to each documents place of origin. Mayamata and Mansara Silpa Shastra are considered Dravidian because they are from South india whereas Viswaskarama Vaastu Shastra is considered Aryan due to its North Indian origin. Vaastu Shastra deals with various aspects of designing and building living environments that are in harmony with the physical and metaphysical forces/ energies of the cosmos such as the gravitational, electromagnetic and supernatural. Building practices based on limited interpretations of these principles are still sustained in specific areas of India. - Wikipedia

To believers, Vaastu Shastra is an ancient science which helps one to get the natural benefits freely offered by the five basic elements of the universe in which we all live. These basic elements are Akash (sky), Prithvi (earth), Paani (water), Agni (fire), and Vayu (wind/air). Vastu Shastra can be applied by keeping in harmony with these basic five elements of nature. It is an edifice science that was developed by our learned people thousands of years ago. Its application today is purely architectural and its principles are based on becoming one with nature. Like astrology and palmistry it is a vast & complicated science, easily misunderstood by most people. Here are some links.

Article: Vastu And Site Selection

Vastu Shastra, which literally means the Science of Existence, Promotes pure and a proper flow of cosmic energy, Energy, which enhances the quality of life of all the people living in Vastu perfect houses. The main aim of Vastu Shastra is to design building spaces that vibrate with positive energy so that the occupants are able to experience peace and harmony.

Vastu and Energy

We are all surrounded by Energy. Energy, which can be good or bad. Vastu Shastra Guides the arrangement and the construction on any plot of land. Proper application of Vastu in the construction of any Building / Temple or Factory helps to confer peace and happiness on the individuals occupying it. If the arrangement of building is not in tune with Vastu the occupants do not enjoy full benefit of their property because positive energy flow cannot be fully exploited and thus benefited from, and if the Vastu of the property is very bad then this brings all types of problems, sufferings for the occupants because it simply means that there is abundant flow of negative energy which is affecting the occupants & has to be suppressed by proper VASTU. On the other hand, well-defined construction as per Vastu helps in improving the quality of life of its occupants.

Site Selection

Vastu plays a very important role in the Selection of the plot of land. Good fertile land with the capacity to grow trees is always considered good land to buy and develop As against land, which is barren and has Thorny shrubs, which is not considered good. The land should be leveled well and cleared of shrubs, weeds and Stones for it to be charged as per VASTU.

A Simple Site Test

A simple test can be performed on the piece of land to be purchased. Dig a 2 (two) feet pit on the North side of the piece of land and then refill it with the same excavated material.

  • If the back filled material spills over then the site will bring riches to the buyer of the land.
  • If the back filled material levels out then the buyer of the Land will get decent or average benefits from the land.
  • Lastly if the back filled material does not even level off and falls below the level of the land then this plot will not be beneficial to the buyer.
